A Poem for Bay Cottage
"The Bald Eagle ignores you disdainfully from his perch
80 feet away, considering you merely human and thus
insufficiently fish-like to eat...At least you hope so.
The ocean stretches impossibly calm across Discovery Bay,
only occasionally broken by the back of a dolphin or cormorant
returning to breathe.
The only sound is the infrequent cry of a bird along the
shore or the mild lapping of the water when the wind decides
to rise above a whisper."
